The study topics of the Human Genetics Laboratory include immunogenetics, cancer genetics, epigenetics and population genetics. The projects carried out include polymorphism, mRNA and microRNA expression studies and epigenetic analysis, especially for understanding the molecular mechanisms of genetic diseases. In addition, studies based on the use of genetic determinants such as autosomal STR, Y-STR, etc. are carried out in order to elucidate the genetic structure of the population of the Southeastern Anatolia Region.
In the laboratory, various biological samples (DNA, RNA, cDNA) are isolated/synthesized from tissues obtained from healthy and sick individuals, and the samples are stored under appropriate storage conditions until the use stage after quality-quantity analysis.
